The MBtek UNI 60 is a 200,000 BTU wood gasification boiler that heats up to 5,000 ft² of hydronic space heating and domestic hot water from split firewood, coal or woodchips. 1 · Get started

Who this is for
This documentation is written for the installer first and the owner second. Some steps are legally and practically restricted:

Commissioning affects your warranty
The warranty card must be filled in with the commissioning date by the qualified installer. A boiler commissioned outside these instructions, or run on an open heating system, can lose warranty cover. See Warranty.
What the UNI 60 is not
It is an indoor, closed-system, solid-fuel boiler — not an outdoor furnace and not a standalone appliance. Planning around those limits early avoids expensive rework:
- It must be installed indoors, with natural or forced draft.
- It must run on a closed heating system with an expansion tank and a safety relief valve. Open systems corrode the body quickly and void the warranty.
- It needs 230 V mains power for the controller and fan. It is not an off-grid boiler; if you need one, look at the non-gasification PRO series on mbtek.com.
- It needs thermal storage or a carefully designed load — a full firebox releases more heat than most buildings need at that moment.
Naming note
In the original factory boiler manual the UNI 60 appears as "UNI 55". The model was renamed for the North American market; the technical data is identical — 85–205 KBTU, 40 gal water volume, 58 gal firebox, 2 in connections, 8 in flue. Where this documentation and the scanned manual disagree, the figures published on the current MBtek specification sheet are authoritative.
