Glossary
Terms used across the UNI 60 documentation — HUW, STB, Brager Expert, supervision, quenching, hysteresis, buffer tank and more.
The terms used in this documentation, in plain language. Several come from the original European manuals and are not the words a North American installer would reach for first.
An adaptive combustion algorithm in the TIS Tronic 260U. It automatically selects fan parameters to match the boiler's output to the building's actual heat demand, while aiming for the set boiler temperature. See Operating modes.
The variant of the Brager Expert algorithm that targets a constant exhaust gas temperature rather than a water temperature. Requires a PT1000 sensor on T3. MBtek's recommended mode for the UNI 60.
Thermal storage between the boiler and the heating distribution. It captures the heat of a full burn that the building cannot use at that moment, reducing cycling and improving comfort. See Buffer tank and hot water.
Central heating. The controller uses it for the space-heating circuit — Q3 is the CH pump output, and the CH sensor is the boiler water sensor on T1.
Domestic hot water. The controller labels this HUW.
Thermal protection sensors that connect to I1. DZT-1 opens at 185 °F / 85 °C and closes at 140 °F / 60 °C; DZT-2 opens at 200 °F / 95 °C and closes at 155 °F / 70 °C.
How many degrees before the set temperature the fan begins slowing down. Range 3–30 °C; MBtek value 12 °C / 21 °F.
The maximum time the fire-up stage may last. Ignition counts as successful if the boiler temperature rises above the shutdown temperature + 2 °C within that time. Range 30–120 min.
Burning wood in two stages: the fuel is heated to release combustible gas, and that gas is then burned in a second, hotter stage. It extracts more energy from the same wood than a simple stove.
The controller's term for domestic hot water. Q4 is the HUW pump output; T2 is the tank sensor.
The gap between switching off and switching back on. With a 60 °C setpoint and 2 °C boiler hysteresis, the boiler returns from supervision to operation at 58 °C. Range 1–3 °C.
The sensor type used for the boiler (T1) and hot water (T2) temperature sensors.
The stage in which the boiler is actively driving toward setpoint, with the fan running under the maximum, minimum and deceleration settings.
The exhaust gas temperature sensor type, fitted to T3. Not included in the standard controller kit.
How many seconds the fan runs during each supervision pulse. Range 5–60 s; MBtek value 10 s. Also called fan ON time.
The controller's term for shutting down because the fire has gone out. Triggered by boiler temperature or exhaust gas temperature. See Quenching.
The independent bimetallic safety thermostat on I1. It cuts the fan above roughly 90 °C water. Per PN-EN 303-5:2012 the fan cannot restart until the water is below 60 °C and the alarm is manually reset.
The stage after the boiler reaches setpoint. The fan stops driving and only pulses briefly at low speed to keep the coals alive. See User menu.
The flue gas path in the UNI: gas leaves the furnace and turns through successive passes, giving up heat to the water jacket, before reaching the chimney connection.
The current electronic regulator fitted to UNI boilers, made by BelKomin LLC. Replaces the older TIS Tronic 83.
The fan type to select in the controller for UNI units. Selecting the wrong type creates a dead band in which changing fan parameters has no visible effect.
